ITS NOT NORMAL 1/17.06

I've been on the road for the past 5 days. Our trip has taken us from the northwoods of Wisconsin south through Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. In our car trunk I packed winter safety items, a small bag of sand, a wool blaket, flashlight and a snow shovel. Just south of mid Wisconsin the snow just up and disappeared.

On our first stop in Illinois I got out of the car a was met with a warm blast of 40 degree wind. 40 degee? and this is mid winter. Then traveling around Davenport Iowa there was GREEN grass. As a kid I use to shed down the towns hills and here was green grass. What's going on here? It's just not normal!

Now, I don't mind paying less for heating our cabin in the woods but this is nuts. In the last 6 years we just haven't had the snow cover nor normal "winter temps". Some people point fingers at globle warming, other to this and that.

What we need is to have a two year congressional investigation. We'd load up a jumbo jet with congressmen and fly it to the moon on a fact finding mission. In this way we'd get a lot of hot air out of the way.

Hope that the Commander is not under surveillance by Homeland Security, since you use to "shed" rather than SLED. Again Dad and his whole family thank you and Rosebud for your thoughtfulness. Hey, to Charlotte and hugs to the kids

But look on the bright side. You're in Kansas!

Let's see, day one: You leave the northwoods and head to Milwaukee where you and the Mrs. spend the night. Day two: You drive to Chicago for lunch and then a short hop to Omaha: Day three: You leave Omaha and take another Sunday drive to KC to see first grandchild. Day four: Another short 12 hour drive back to the northwoods and the color "grey". How do you handle this? Or, (ahem) is this just more "literary license" taken?

Being out on the road, is being out with my fellow "BIG DOGS". We flashed by those truckers like they were standing still. Ah, the open road, Gad I'm glad I'am not pushing a rig anymore. And Mr Anonymous...some people can't sit on their front deck and rock. It's being there it's somewhere over the rainbow, It's not the Andes but who cares.

You should read your own commentaries, UP North, because you are full of contradictions. I think you still secretly yearn to be behind the wheel of a "rig" and be a "BIG DOG".

Speaking of 'shedding', dad, I'd love to hear your take on this guy's opinion of it:

I think he's right on. p.s. How many steps have you taken today?

It's a good slate article--but, it's a slippery slope to the left when you start reading left coast stuff.

Life is but a contradiction, one on top of another and at the moment I'd rather hear another bird jokes than to come down with one of the bird flu. Just try and read the IRS tax manual talk about contradictions,it about as bad as discusing anything factual with me brothers, mucho contradictions. ta ta 4 now
